I examine each dismissal form before posting, post only those defendants who are free of charges and for which I have an attorney photo. These and non-photo cases are entered into the Defense Attorney spreadsheet published on Saturdays. Felony and misdemeanor dismissals are published in the spreadsheets below)

Attorney/Client privilege exists even after client death:
SWIDLER & BERLIN and JAMES HAMILTON,
PETITIONERS v. UNITED STATES
ON WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA CIRCUIT – 524 U.S. 399
[June 25, 1998]
Chief Justice Rehnquist delivered the opinion of the Court.
Petitioner, an attorney, made notes of an initial interview with a client shortly before the client’s death. The Government, represented by the Office of Independent Counsel, now seeks his notes for use in a criminal investigation. We hold that the notes are protected by the attorney-client privilege.
