Thank you for viewing my website!
The following is a description of who, what, when, where and why I post certain information on my website. If I miss anything or make a mistake about something, PLEASE correct me. I want to be accurate with my information.
I am at the mercy of the District Clerk’s Office for my information. If their information is accurate then my website will be accurate. If their site is down, I will not be able to provide the website information. Thanks to all the clerks who work so hard to provide me and the public with this information!
I do ALL the work myself – from researching the information, visiting courts, drafting each post, artwork, photos, proof-reading and publishing.
I have no allegiances to any prosecutor, judge or defense lawyer in what I publish. It is simply information and statistics from which you can draw your own conclusions.
If anybody desires a different photo – please email it to me at jeffross486@yahoo.com. Thanks.
I publish felony and misdemeanor dismissals, particularly TRIAL-SETTING dismissals.
I gather this information by running the district clerk’s online services > public dataset > crim dispose daily and the online services > public reports > master docket and sift through ALL the felony and misdemeanor courts’ dockets and cases from the day before. There are 29 felony court dockets, 16 misdemeanor court dockets and ERD courts.
On the dismissals, I open up each dismissal case and look at whether the person is in custody, their criminal history, other pending cases, the settings, the activities and finally the dismissal form. I do not publish a dismissal until I see the dismissal form.
- I do publish felony dismissals if the client assisted in the dismissal with BIPP, AMC, restitution, other classes or if earned PTI (not RIC court)
- I do not publish dismissals unless it appears the attorney did some work on the case and the client is basically going home a free person. (Some exceptions apply)
- I do not publish “no bills” unless I know a grand jury packet was done or that the defense attorney put up a fight.
- I do not publish dismissals if “convicted on another charge”, ” feds picked up case”, “defendant deceased”, “case re-filed”, “incompetent-unlikely to restore”, “trace amount”, “no controlled substance found”, “def had prescription”,”no PC found” – unless no PC is several resets down the road, “probation conditions amended to include in-house, jail, a program or extended”, “pending felonies” “PTI on RIC cases” , “in custody elsewhere” “deported”, “office policy”, etc.
- I do not publish dismissals when the DA’s office has a policy of offering PTI as a matter of course on certain types of cases such as Theft by Check, PCS, etc.
Once I have a list of dismissals and trial verdicts I input this information onto my draft page.
Sometimes I do not publish a lawyer because that lawyer asked me NOT to publish. Only 5 lawyers have asked me to not publish.
I prepare the master spreadsheet which includes ALL trial victories from January 1, 2017 to the present. This spreadsheet is meant to be downloaded so that the reader can see who tries case, what type of cases are tried, etc
I do a spreadsheet for judges and their trials. This information is meant to show how many trials a judge performs, what type of trials and punishment. The reader can draw their own conclusions about this material.
I do a spreadsheet of the number of verdicts each prosecutor and defense attorney have earned during the year.
I publish trial verdicts for the winner only! I do not publish the losing side. However, I do realize that a prosecutor may win the verdict, but the defense may have won the battle by earning a better sentence for the client than the plea offer. I can’t get involved with what the plea offer was prior to trial, so to those defense attorneys who try the difficult case. lose the verdict but obtain a better sentence than the plea offer – GREAT JOB! and CONGRATULATIONS!
In-Trial Dismissal – If Voir Dire is completed and the case is dismissed shortly thereafter or at any point during the trial I publish it.
OUT-OF COUNTY VERDICTS AND MOTIONS TO SUPPRESS
If you have an out-of-county “not guilty” verdict I would welcome the information for my blog.
Also, I accept “motion to suppress” (with witnesses) information as well. I can’t tell from the computer if witnesses were presented or that a hearing was held, so if a hearing was held with witness(es) I need someone to please forward me the case number, court, judge name and type of case and I will be happy to publish it.
I hope this explains everything. Remember, I do this to promote the GOOD things my colleagues do – nothing negative. If I insulted somebody with a bad picture or inaccurate information, I apologize. Please email me at jeffross486@yahoo.com to correct, add or delete. Thank you!
PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO SEND ME INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DISMISSAL, VERDICT, MOTION TO SUPPRESS, NO BILL, ETC IF IT MEETS MY CRITERIA. THAT IS WHAT MY BLOG IS FOR!
And, thanks for visiting Show Me The Justice!
