I am Show Me The Justice Attorney Jeff Ross – a 40-year veteran criminal defense lawyer – and I created this website to acknowledge the excellent efforts of my colleagues who work at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center in Houston, Texas.
I publish trial verdicts, in-trial pleas and dismissals, felony dismissals, trial setting dismissals, trial standings, judge standings, lawyer statistics, lawyer standings, photos and other court news and nuggets.
“My goal is to shine a light on the fine prosecutors, defense attorneys and other courthouse personnel who serve the interest of justice in our community. Our work is the last line of defense for those who will lose their freedom or become free. Thanks to all for your fine work!”

RETAINED CASES
Are you curious if the RETAINED cases are dwindling at the Harris County Criminal Courthouse? Here is the breakdown of retained cases (defendant paying a lawyer out of his own pocket), cases that are appointed (defendant receiving a free lawyer appointed by the judge and paid for by the county), cases that are appointed in the misdemeanor courts through the MAC system (defendant receiving a free lawyer selected by the Managed Assigned Counsel Program and paid for by the county) and cases that are appointed to the defense attorneys who work in the Public Defender’s Office. See article on Harris CountyIndigent and Defense Systems (Information derived from District Clerk’s website > Public Datasets > CrimFilingsWithFutureSettings)
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has launched the Data Transparency Dashboard, an innovative project aimed at promoting data freedom.
